I started making the transition to street photography in 2020, although I didn’t know it at the time.
Like other photographers, during lockdown I wondered the empty streets of Manhattan as far as my feet could take me to document and try and make sense of it all. The lack of people made me view the city in a different way. I once avoided Times Square at all costs and never thought I’d be standing in it empty, all to myself and wish to be in the midst of the crush of people, mainly tourists.
The dedicated pursuit of street photography doesn’t mean I no longer take travel photographs at all – of which street photography is a part – but it was time to pivot and grow.
To that end, I’ve added street photography to the portfolio section of this site. These galleries are the beginning of my ongoing street photography journey. The images were taken in my hometown of New York City during the pandemic and post pandemic years up until the present day. More remain on my hard drives as evolving projects photographed near and far – other parts of the USA and world. Some of these projects will eventually see the light of day and will most definitely take years to complete.
