Travel Photography Tips

Travel-Photography-TipsI often get asked for advice on how to take better travel photos.  Some of my guidelines have been featured on Shutter Love, a new site for photography enthusiasts published by Nielsen.

It’s an excerpt from the New York Institute of Photography’s latest book “Top Travel Photo Tips From 10 Pro Photographers,” which I participated in.

I always tell folks that good travel photography starts at home. No matter where you live there is always travel related subject matter.

Practice photographing that local scenic view, attraction or festival. Experiment with different times of day and year and learn from your mistakes.

Then go back and do it better – something that isn’t possible if you are taking a once in a lifetime trip.
